The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.3
DVDStyler can help you create DVD discs from different sources. It supports importing not only standard video files but also titles from other discs. In addition, it allows you to create nice DVD menus.
The program is easy to use, although the help file is totally illegible. Some parts of the process can be carried out in a wizard style, in such a way that you should provide data only when it is necessary. Thus, there is a welcoming screen in which you can enter initial data about your project, such as disc label, disc capacity, video quality, video format, aspect ratio and audio format.
It has a tabbed interface that organizes such functions as adding contents to the disc, selecting a menu background and editing menu buttons. Adding contents can be easily done by dragging the files from the file browser and dropping them onto the menu. Another way is to browse for them on your local disks or to choose titles from a DVD disc or a folder. Unfortunately, I could not find any way to configure such auxiliary contents as subtitles and multiple audio tracks. Another limitation is the absence of any authoring functions.
The main asset of this application is probably the menu creation tool. Several attractive templates and an extensive collection of buttons are available for this purpose. In addition, it allows you to position the visual elements, such as video thumbnails, text boxes and buttons, exactly where you want them. However, you cannot use your own pictures to customize backgrounds and there is no way to choose the default video thumbnail image.
Finally, the application supports burning your project directly onto a disc and saving it to an ISO image file. Other parameters such as burn speed and temporary directory can also be set.
In general, DVDStyler may not be the best of its kind. However, it includes several features to create DVD discs with a decent quality. As for me, it would have been fine if the program had not frozen while I was trying to add some contents.
